A 30-year-old Venezuelan was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on an armed robbery charge.It is alleged that Asdrodel González Berio on December 14, 2018, at Maka Point, North West District, Region One(Barima-Waini), while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Elroy Bhisnaught of a Yamaha outboard engine and a Nokia Cellphone valued at a total of $250,000.Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield in his submissions informed the court that Berio is not a Guyanese and he does not have a fixed place of abode locally.Berio was remanded to prison. The case will continue on February 19, 2019 at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
Letterkenny Gaels Club Notes:The senior team secured two vital league points at the weekend when they had a one point victory over Aodh Ruadh in Ballyshannon. The reserves lost their game. Pride of the Glebe this week goes to our U-12 hurlers who were victorious over neighbours St. Eunan’s in the County Hurling final. Well done to Tom, Ray and all the team.The U-16’s hurlers had a good victory over Na Seamróga from Strabane in the league semi-final on Thursday evening. They play Mc Cumhaills this Thursday evening in the final. All support welcome.The team travelled to Loch Mor Dal gCais Antrim to play in a 7 a side tournament on Saturday morning. The lads finished the day winning Division 3 of the tournament and took home the Casement Cup.Congratulations to all involved.Well done to Diarmuid Cahill, Mikey Sweeney and Ross Marley who were part of the County under 15 development squad who played in Cavan on Saturday.Well done to our U-16 girls on their victory over Burt on Tuesday evening. Training continues from 6-7pm on Tuesday and from 7-8pm on Fridays.Our Camogs attended a blitz in Donegal Town at the weekend. Gaels Camogie would like to extend a huge thank you to Laurence, Shirley, Mary and all at Four Masters for the invitation to the blitz and a brilliant day for all the girls.The U-13 footballers had their first run out of the season when they welcomed Naomh Colmcille to Pairc na nGael. The game finished in a draw. U-13 training continues every Monday & Friday at 6.30pm at the pitch. New members always welcome.Buíochas Mór to all who participated in the recent Gaels Got Talent auditions at the clubhouse. It has highlighted the wealth of talent within the club. Music, drama and ballad groups have been selected from those who auditioned and they will take part in the upcoming Scór Competition in the Autumn. It is hoped that the younger members will represent Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn in Scór in the years ahead.After Christmas it is planned to arrange a regular music session at the clubhouse, open to all. So if you play an instrument and would be interested in developing your session tunes, we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.Underage football training for U-6, U-8 & U-10’s continues every Sunday at the Glebe. New members especially welcome. 11am-12noon. There is also a session on Wednesday evenings. Please bring mouth guards and drink.Rehearsals for our forthcoming play are now continuing. All roles have been filled and our actors are enthusiastically working away and developing into their various characters. It promises to be a wonderfully entertaining comedy. We are presently looking for an assistant producer-this role may suit someone who would like to learn the ropes or get an introduction into producing a play so if you are a student or just somebody who would like to get involved please contact J Frain.
