first_imgKolkata: The ignorance of BJP leaders about Bengal continues to come to the forefront as the party’s state president Dilip Ghosh said Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar had written Sahaj Path.BJP national president Amit Shah, while addressing an election rally some days ago, had said Rabindranath Tagore was born in Santiniketan. The latest statement of Ghosh has come as a shock to the people of Bengal. Sahaj Path was written by Tagore for children. Vidyasagar had written Barna Parichay to introduce Bengali alphabets to children. He wrote several books for children which include Kathamala, Botrish Singhasan, Betal Panchabingsati along with a Sanskrit grammar book called Byakaran Kaumodi. “This is the culture of BJP. They do not know Bengal and its rich heritage and speak without sense,” said Partha Chatterjee, Trinamool Congress secretary general. He further added: “The way BJP workers desecrated Vidyasagar’s bust may not have ashamed them, but it has made all of us bow our heads in shame. They will only destroy our history and culture.”last_img
